A.K.A. A Repository of Vanities) Materials: Copper, USB drive Dimensions: 7.3 x 2 x 2 cm Constructed, Etched, Patina, Set Photo credit: Artist Jungwha Kim Los Alamitos, CA. USA My work presents integration of different forms and qualities to create a new dialogue. I am interested in abstract form, both geometric and organic. Geometric form normally brings out controlled and deliberate qualities; while organic form the opposite, demonstrative and spontaneous. From my experience as Korean, I learned to appreciate physicality of the metal as ancient metalwork from 4,000 years survived to reveal the maker's intent of creation. On the other hand, I am also drawn to the qualities, such as fragility, ambiguity, obscurity and ephemeral. These qualities are insubstantial, intangible and fleeting.
