I received my BFA in metals at SUNY New Paltz in 2009. My love of metalsmithing began at the Pratt Institute at Munson-Williams Proctor, where I attended, studying the fine arts for two years from 2005 to 2007. From my first jewelry class I became fascinated with the ability to hand-fabricate objects. At SUNY New Paltz I discovered my true niche in forming, the ultimate way to hand fabricate by hammering large forms. My recent work is inspired by ancient Chinese pottery and its natural/organic forms contrasted with the industrial look of man-made elements. I am intrigued by the strong contrast and the irony in pairing them.
